This past March at The Victoria Regional Airport in Victoria, Texas, gear heads, car enthusiasts and spectators gathered to witness some of the fastest cars and motorcycles in the world race full throttle down the 1-mile stretch of pavement. The Texas Mile has been the proving grounds for many after-market parts and manufacturer companies to prove what they can really do. In March, Car and Driver Magazine did just that. They unleashed the 755 HP 2019 Corvette ZR1 at the Texas Mile and wrote about their experience in a 7 page article in the June 2019 edition, including the front page which reads, “TOP-SPEED RUN AT THE TEXAS MILE AND FIRST FULL TEST NUMBERS”.
Car and Driver couldn’t have said it better, “Started in 2003, The Texas Mile, now held in Victoria, is a standing-mile acceleration test for those seeking a long-term relationship with blurred scenery. Endurance drag-racing if you will. Combining NHRA-like accumulation of speed and dry-lake-bed like top end for street cars, The Mile is unlike anything else in motorsports, a place to really uncork it”
